The teachers have their office close to the central room where all the students gather during breakes. That way the teachers are always close by. Three teachers work together in the room. Two of them have vocational courses with the students within the Commerce and Adminsitration Programme. The room is big and airy and contains five workplaces as well as a sofa and some chairs around a coffe table so the teachers may chat informally with students when needed.
Dear Petronella!
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of courses Commerce and Adminsitration Programme offers? Are there some mandatory courses?
Best regards, Elena Medin
Yes, many courses are mandatory. The students have to take all the courses that are the same for all programmes such as Maths, Svedish, Religion etc (in total 9 subjects). Part from that they also have to take courses related to their field of programme such as subjects related to commerce and administration, such as Entreprenurship, Knowledge about branches within the field of commerce and administration, etc.
ReplyDeleteThe there are two different parts of the programmes the students may choose to profound themselves within, and there they also have set courses. Only very few courses are available as semi-elective or elective.
This seems like a really good teachers workplace! Not too many in the same room, close to where students hang out, good environment for social interaction.
ReplyDeleteHow often do you meet with other vocational training teachers? Do you have set meetings per week/month?
yes, the room is quite comfortable and well located.
ReplyDeleteThe teachers involved in the programme meets quite infrequently. Four out of five key teachers are located in the same room though, so they can discuss matters informally any time. Another teacher will join in whenever there is sómething specific to discuss. Now by the end of the semester there are some scheduled meetings to more formally discuss the students and the goals they have to set in order to pass all their courses.
