Entreprenuship - one of the courses the students may take

Accountability is one task the students have to manage.
The students often work in groups, and have longer periods to complete larger projects. This picture shows students from 3rd year within the class Entreprenuship. The students are doing the annual report for their company by completing their account.

In the course Entreprenurship the students starts a company in order to by practical handling of their own company getting to know each step of the year of a company. The students have to buy things, market them and sell them. Alls tudents wirhin the Commerce and Adminstration Programme at Mimers Hus have to participate in the Young Entrepreneurship Fair which is held for all YE-students within the region at the Fair Centre in Gothenburg each spring.

  1. Can you give examples of business ideas that your students have?

  2. The businesses our students have ongoing are:
Shells for iPhones with sidepocket for creditcard, hubs for phones or music devices so you may listen up to 7 people at the same time, kitchen tools in a handy outfit, coffe (importing, blending, grinding etc), plastic clocks, etc. Most businesses are importing things to sell on. Only one company produces something (the coffee beans are imported, but then the rest of the process is done by the student).

    1. Well, it is actually both. Half of the students are really dedicaded and applied to the programme bacause they have aspirations and know what they want to do. The other half applied to thiseither because their grades were not enough for Economics or what ever, or because they did not know what to do and applied to this programme as they thought it would be easy. Unfortunately it is quite a packed programme with a lot of things to do, so itnot as easy as some students would have hoped....

    2. Interesting, I agree, but also think that those who might not have succeeded so well with elementary school in the theoretical mixture succeed really good at Commerse & administration program. In fact, they might finally get to see that they can also perform.

  4. True. I also have noticed that. But I believe it is because hose students really are interested in what they are doing and have found "their place" in school.

  5. We once started a Company in one of our classes. It´s a very good way to show them all the steps and learn them how to run a buisness. It's very common in the restaurant industry to start a business
