Computers is the workstation du jour. everything is over computer at plusgymnasiet. students can check their assignments, schedule and messages. is this good or bad? well its reality.
i have students that can´t write or understand handwritten text.. and its very common.. i dont think we can blame it on the students.. its the system that forgot fundemental things
In another blog in this group they mentioned problems with students using computers mostly to check their emails and do other private matters. Do you have the same problem on your school? What do you think can make students use the computers as we wish?
As many schools nowadays, computers are given to students to be used for educational purposes - due to the benefits the technology can give us. But something must have gone terribly wrong when they are used for other reasons, and teachers as yourself "try to use the computers as little as possible".
A computer and internet may be a very good tool for the students, it can open up the World but it´s Important to remember that there is an off-button on the computer as well. According to my opinon you achieve the best results by combining practical work, for example in a kitchen and the use of computers in your assignments.
I think it´s important to have rules about how to use computers, telephones and so on. Constantly nagging at first but after a while it goes better. Most of the students will learn the rules after a while.
And as we have discussed so much....the computers may be so useful when the students write their logs and blogs and what ever they do when they are at their VET-works....
Something I noticed is that the written language is changing due to this, don't know if it's good or bad or just a consequence we have to live with?
